No accounts. No analytics. No tracking. Your files never leave your Mac.
The short version: Sorting Room collects nothing. Everything it knows about your files stays on your Mac.
What we collect
Nothing. Sorting Room has no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, no tracking and no crash reporting of its own. The app does not run any network service, and it doesn’t send your data anywhere.
What stays on your Mac
To do its job, Sorting Room keeps a few things locally, inside the app’s own container on your Mac:
- The folders you choose, saved as macOS security-scoped bookmarks so you don’t have to choose them again.
- Your projects: their folders and roles.
- A log of moves, used for undo and history.
- Learned suggestions, based on the website a file was downloaded from and the words in file names.
None of this is sent anywhere. Deleting the app and its container removes it.
File contents
Sorting Room reads file contents only on your Mac, to detect exact duplicates and to verify copies with checksums. File contents are never uploaded.
Folders and drives
The app runs in the macOS App Sandbox. It can only reach folders you explicitly choose. It writes to a drive only when you choose that drive as an offload destination.
Apple
If you install Sorting Room from the App Store or TestFlight, Apple may share crash reports and usage data with the developer, depending on your Mac’s analytics settings (System Settings ▸ Privacy & Security ▸ Analytics & Improvements). This is true of every App Store app, and Apple’s privacy policy governs it.
This website
This site sets no cookies and uses no analytics, advertising or third-party trackers. It loads no external scripts or fonts. It is hosted on Cloudflare Pages, which processes standard request data, such as IP addresses, to deliver the site and protect it from abuse.
Children
Sorting Room collects no personal information from anyone, including children.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new effective date. If Sorting Room ever starts collecting data, this page will say so before the change ships.
